2023 President’s Message

Welcome to WSA.  The 2023 tournament will be hosted in District I under the very capable management of tournament director – Rob Robinson. He has assembled a great group of court managers to support the event. 

Under the leadership of the past president, Mark Hankins, a committee of Rob, Mark, Karen Fodchuk and myself set out to revise the rules of the tournament to make them more user friendly to the captains and to encourage more participation.  These rules were adopted at the spring meeting and are posted elsewhere on this site.   This will be year one playing under these modified rules and some issues may arise that need to be addressed by the Tournament Director and the executive as the event unfolds.  An example would be the splitting of the Alberta Chinooks into two teams – 1) Alberta Chinooks and 2) Az Nuggets.  Neither team has replaced more than half of the players from the Alberta Chinooks and thus both will play in the Black Division.  

As I write this in mid-July, I believe that the entries are finalized, and we should be able to confirm the team numbers in early October.  In the interim if you have any questions, please contact us.  

We owe a great deal of gratitude to Rob Robinson and his agreement to take on the role of Tournament Director.  Without his leadership this event would not have proceeded.   Be sure to thank him when you see him.
